SpongeBob The Musical (2023)
Directing SpongeBob The Musical at Somerset Parkland Academy was an unforgettable experience that left me in awe of the talented students in our program. From the very beginning, it was clear that this was going to be a challenging yet rewarding journey. We rehearsed twice a week, every Monday and Tuesday, and every rehearsal was filled with energy and enthusiasm.
The cast was made up of 30 students, all of whom had unique strengths and abilities that contributed to the success of the show. Rehearsing in our school cafeteria presented some logistical challenges, but the students were always eager to adapt and make the most of the space we had.
The show was expertly choreographed by Jerel Brown, whose creativity and talent brought the musical numbers to life in a way that was both entertaining and visually stunning. Raquel Montesino's musical direction ensured that every note was pitch-perfect, and the combination of Jerel's choreography and Raquel's musical direction was truly remarkable.
As we worked through the nine-month program, I was amazed by how much the students grew in their roles. They tackled every challenge with determination and professionalism, and it was incredible to see their confidence and abilities soar.
Watching them perform at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts was a moment I will never forget. Seeing them take the stage and deliver a performance that was both polished and heartfelt was an incredible feeling, and it was clear that all their hard work had paid off.
In the end, directing SpongeBob The Musical at Somerset Parkland Academy was an unforgettable experience that taught me so much about the power of teamwork, dedication, and the transformative power of the arts. I am so proud of all the students who participated in the production, and I can't wait to see what they will accomplish next.
